Potts Pantry

The Barbara J. Potts Memorial Food Pantry has been in operation since 1997 when it started in a small cabinet at Washington Avenue Presbyterian Church. The mission to care for church members and community families continued and grew in 2000 when Washington Avenue Presbyterian and Westminster Presbyterian Churches merged to became Unity Presbyterian Church.  When the church moved to its new location on Springhill Drive in 2003 it continued this important service by establishing the Food Pantry in our office building, the tan house to the right of our worship center. The Potts Food Pantry is supported by church fundraisers, member donations, community groups and business donations, and private individual donations.  We partner with the Salvation Army and Catholic Charities to continue our commitment to follow Jesus' command to "Feed my sheep."  We are ever grateful for Barbra Potts and her vision of hope.

HOW WE CAN HELP

Currently the Food Pantry can support up to twelve families on a monthly basis with supplemental groceries.

Emergency Groceries Bags can be provided on request during the churches business hours. Monday - Wednesday 8am-1pm and Thursday 8am-noon.

If you or someone you know is in need of assistance please contact the church office at 812-299-2206

HOW YOU CAN HELP

Donations for the Food Pantry can be dropped off at regular Sunday Worship at 10:30 am or during the regular office hours.

Thanks to the Salvation Army and the students of the Vigo County Schools the pantry received a very generous donation of Canned Goods and we currently have an abundance of Canned Vegetables and Soups and currently DO NOT need these items.

While the shelves are bursting with many items we still have needs that you can contribute.

Currently the Pantry needs: Peanut Butter, Jelly, Canned Meats, Canned Fruit, Soda Crackers, Toilet Paper, Tissue, Paper Towels, Liquid Dish Soap, Hand Lotion, Hand Soap, Shower Gel, Shampoo, Toothpaste, & Personal Hygiene Items.

If you are interested in Volunteering to help pack our monthly distributions, pick-up from our partner Catholic Charities, or shop for groceries please contact the church office or Pastor Andrew.

If you are interested in overseeing a plot in our organic community garden contact the church office; Ten Percent can be donated to the Food Pantry to provide fresh produce.
